Radmila Topalović

About me

Radmila Topalovic is an urban astronomer and science lecturer based in South East London, formerly of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

Rad is a Curriculum Manager at the University of Roehampton, she previously led maths and English at Morley College in North Kensington. She also teaches a variety of physics and astrophysics courses at City Lit, Covent Garden. She is Astronomer Emeritus of the Royal Observatory Greenwich having spent more than seven years there developing and delivering world-class education programmes. She holds a degree in Physics with Astrophysics and a PhD in Astrochemistry, she recently gained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (in higher education). 

In 2016, she co-authored the popular Collins Astronomy book Stargazing. Her Guides to the Night Sky and Night Sky Almanac for 2026 and 2027 in collaboration with Dominic Ford and the Royal Observatory Greenwich are published by Collins, available NOW. She writes articles for the Harper Collins blog.

Rad explains her relationship with the night sky in the BBC World Service documentary Licence to Operate a Space Object. She has spoken at a wide variety of events and festivals, including Wilderness, Café Scientifique, Secret Garden Party, Secret Cinema and others. Rad is also a media expert having appeared on BBC Horizon, CNN Inspirations, the Guardian’s Starwatch Column and many more programmes and articles.
